Realism
Realism asks the skin to read like a photograph or an oil painting: volume, light and texture built up from gradients, with no outline holding them together. That's why it needs room. A face needs space so the eyes and the shifts in tone don't blur together over the years, and what fits in a palm-sized sketch works far better across a whole forearm, a thigh or a back. Here it is mostly portraiture — faces, figures and animals — nearly always in black & grey, now and then in colour.
