Ingwaz carries the name of the god Ing, an older identity of Freyr. The Anglo-Saxon rune poem remembers him as a hero seen among the East Danes, before departing over the sea; its diamond shape suggests a seed, fitting the fertility associated with him. It's the rune of potential that hasn't been released yet.
